object: love

Maison 24 now has an online store…and amongst all the cool stuff are these LOVE paperweights. Robert Indiana created the iconic LOVE design for a Museum of Modern Art Christmas card in 1964. This version is $75.

object: clay works

I came across Pigeon Toe Ceramics this morning via Daily Candy. As you can see the stuff is beautiful. I wish I’d found them before I’d done all my Christmas shopping.

object: signs

I love this Library sign from Threepotatofour. It appeals to the book geek in me…and would make a lovely Christmas present.

object: lights

Gorgeous Egyptian lights from Netherlands-based Le Souk…looks like they ship internationally.

object: rugs

Amy Helfand’s rugs really are works of art and she’s having an open studio and holiday sale (with a bunch of her friends) on Sunday, December 13 at 499 Van Brunt Street, Red Hook, Brooklyn. Well worth checking out if you are in the area.

object: bag it

I’m not sure about Lauren Bush – the family bothers me – but I do like the FEED project to fight world hunger that she set up. Her contacts here clearly helped. Everyone from Amazon to Barnes & Noble is on board. The idea is you buy a bag – lots of different bags – and the money goes to paying for food for children in Africa (there are a few different countries being supported), and in the case of Barnes & Noble, also books. The FEED bag above is $25 and buys 3 lunches and 3 books. If you got a bunch for all your family it could actually add up!

book: mid-century for kids

Leave it to Todd Oldham to come up with the best kid’s Christmas present. I’m getting Kid Made Modern for my daughter and I can’t wait to make the mobile with her!

object: snifter

Cool glass from Qubus via Merchant No. 4. Nice little Chrissie present?

shop: new online gallery

OK – I know I’m doing a lot on art right now. My husband and I give each other art for Christmas so I’m doing a bit of research. Although we’ve got 3 things that need to be framed right now so maybe we’ll hold off. I still like doing the research though. Check out this new online gallery – a supermarket for art lovers! They focus on prints – hence the name Print Society. I like Robert Hanson’s work above. And the work of Rochefort below.

gift guide? nah

I had grand  plans to do a gift guide – it’s that time of year and all but I’m just not organised enough to pull a whole list together. So I will post bits and bobs and tag them all ‘gift’ so you can search and make it yourself!

I love these little books on the arctic by Jackie Peppermint (is that her real name?) They’re $12 and this is the 2nd edition.
