design: make mine milk

Charley Harper first came to my attention with the Todd Oldham book. I love the clean-lined graphic quality of his images – especially the birds. I was at the Dwell conference a few weeks ago and had a chat to the Fabulous Frames and Art people who sell a lot of Harper’s work. They had original prints (which were expensive) and posters (which were a lot cheaper). The website is a bit tedious to wade through but there’s so much great stuff it’s worth the effort.

I came across Studio Moe in New York. Very fine work…well worth a look. Andrew Moe is fascinating. He dances tango, studied at Princeton, is a sculptor as well as a furniture maker and designer.

Interior designers Timothy Haynes and Kevin Roberts are based in New York. This is a living room he did with a great modern take on the oak floor. It looks like the wide planks have been left raw and perhaps waxed. A nice counterpoint to the slickness of the furniture.

24 year old designer Daniel Rybakken is obsessed with light. Maybe it’s a Norwegian thing, long winters and all. But the results are stunning. Check out ‘dayight comes sideways’ (above) and his polished aluminium ‘mirror‘ below. His work is stunning.
