new eames
Herman Miller has just launched five new colors for the Eames plastic molded chairs…read all about it at Lifework.

HotelChatter – one of my favourite gossipy websites – juts posted this pic of The Standard NY’s new bar. Not opened yet (nor properly named)- but will be soon. How great are those chairs?

A lovely low sling timber chair from HarBennger2.

There’s something about Tom Dixon’s designs that just draws me in. I like the idea of hanging mulptiples of his lights and this wire chair -called the Link Easy chair - is bold and beautiful.

I stopped in at Anthropologie this morning (the kid’s are at beach camp…yay!) They’ve got a great new chair covered in Paul Smith’s stripey fabric (above) and an ikat rug that packs a serious punch of colour (below).

I came across Studio Moe in New York. Very fine work…well worth a look. Andrew Moe is fascinating. He dances tango, studied at Princeton, is a sculptor as well as a furniture maker and designer.

This is what Brian wont be getting for father’s day. We’re trying to rein in the outgoings so even on sale this chair is beyond our budget. But it’s fabulous nonetheless and I know he’d love it. DWR is having a Herman Miller sale and the Eames lounge chair is just one of a bunch of items you’ll save 15 % on (plus free shipping). Now if it were mother’s day I’d be gunning for the classic Eames walnut stool (below).

I got an email today from David over at Floor Model. The LA retailers import Danish, Swedish and European mid-century furniture. David says they’ve just received a new container from Denmark with what sounds like some amazing pieces (including low rosewood and teak sideboards, dining tables in teak and rosewood, both rectangular and round, sets of dining chairs in teak, rosewood, oak and mahogany and some sofas including a sleeper sofa). These guys have a great eye and all their furniture is restored beautifully. You can check out their wares – there’s lots more on floor than currently appear on the website – at their warehouse: 5533 Satsuma Ave, North Hollywood 91601. Or their showroom at HD Buttercup (3225 Helms Ave, Los Angeles 90034, 310.945.5053). They’ve moved within the store and are now nearer the front door. Well worth a look.
