On the subject of city guides…here is a list of a few I return to again and again. Los Angeles magazine - because I can always find what I am looking for and the  like the way it’s designed. DesignSponge did a nice cityguide…although it’s a little old now (Jan 2007). It is great for the basics. I was given a Not For Tourists Guide to Los Angeles when we arrived last time and now I just use their website. Nice reminders about what’s good in your neighbourhood. I also check out KCRW’s Design and Architecture calendar…the design is not particularly lovely but the info is there.
